Winamp als Open Source?!

Paukenschlag: Nachdem Winamp beerdigt wurde, soll nun tatsächlich der Quellcode veröffentlicht werden! Das ganze läuft unter dem Projektnamen FreeLLama und soll am 24.09.2024 soweit sein.

The release of the Winamp player's source code will enable developers from all over the world to actively participate in its evolution and improvement.
While our current focus is on developing new products, we haven't forgotten our long-standing fans. This decision will enable thousands of Windows users to have the player of their dreams, thanks to the experience and creativity of thousands of passionate developers.
This collaboration will impact all of our future Winamp projects, keeping our iconic player at the heart of all we do.

Das kommt definitiv unerwartet, normalerweise veröffentlichen Firmen keine Quellcodes, auch nicht von toten Projekten. Was auf jeden Fall noch unklar ist, sind die Lizenzbedingungen. Beim Quasi-Fork WACUP sieht man das ganze auch entsprechend skeptisch. Ob es dann wirklich "Open Source" ist oder nur ausgewählte Entwickler einen Zugriff erhalten und es damit doch hinter verschlossenen Türen bleibt, wäre daher noch abzuwarten.

Nachtrag: Am 23.05. kam tatsächlich die Bestätigung, dass es nicht Open Source wird:
